How much weight will I lose with a Whey Shake

You can't predict weight loss. It's unique to every person.

Whey Protein Meal Replacement Shakes work on the principal that if you consume fewer calories from a shake than a normal meal, you will lose weight by replacing the meal with a whey shake. Eating fewer calories results in weight loss.

Of course, you must feel full so that you aren't craving food. Whey does by 1) being very high in protein which is filling and 2) whey protein causes the release of appetite suppressing hormones and 3) whey protein helps regulate blood sugar levels.

In your case, just try replacing your breakfast with a whey shake for two weeks and then check if you lost weight.

What do you mix whey protein with?

Im 13 and almost 14 and wanted to to try this whey protein stuff to get a little bigger and i was wondering what to mix it with and how much to use? Also does it make a difference what i mix it with?

Whey protein is normally mixed with milk, skim milk, soy milk or water. Since you are young, your probably better of with 2% or whole milk. The milk fat and lactose sugars would be beneficial since you are still growing. After all, cows milk is what a calf drink to grow.

Only old folks like me need to worry about fats and sugars. For some older than twenty, they may want to use skim milk. For the true dieters, use plain water (yuck).

The only difference is how much fat, sugar and calories are you adding by mixing with 2% milk versus skim or water. 2% milk will have more of all those, skim milk some and water none. You can just read the nutrition label to find out the details.

And taste is another factor. Whey protein doesn't taste that good. So, for me, mixing in milk helps. Using water must taste awful.

People add fruit, yogurt and chocolate syrup too. Again, you just have to consider your goal (add bulk or weight loss) and determine if you want the extra calories.

And just FYI: Some other answer recommended taking 30 grams of protein in a shake. Your body can't absorb more than 20 grams of protein in a single meal. Take more than that at one time and all you get is expensive urine. To bulk up, you would be better off with two 20 protein gram shakes 2 hours apart than one shake at 30 grams.

Need to lose weight? Try the Whey Protein Diet

Want to lose some weight? Tired of the dieting that doesn't get anywhere? Looking for a better solution?

I felt the same way. Now I'm trying the whey protein diet. Weight loss is not easy, but thi
s diet offers an alternative to the fads diets.

I tried the Whey Protein Diet

I really just got started in the last two weeks, but so far so good.

I could stand to lose a few pounds, and you may be in a similar situation. I've tried dieting before with low fat foods, low carbohydrate diet, low calorie diet, and just about anything else you can think of. Nothing worked very well, and nothing seemed sustainable. I was always hungry.

Then along came the Whey Protein Diet. I'm happy so far in that I don't feel as if I'm starving myself. The whey protein shakes are getting through the day without all the food cravings. That is why I think the pounds have started to come off. My body is going into starvation mode.

What s the Whey Protein Diet

So what exactly in the Whey Protein Diet? It's a simple meal replacement program, kinds like slim-fast.

You replace one or two meals per with a protein shake, preferably breakfast and perhaps lunch. You have a regular, sensible dinner. You are also allowed two 100 calorie snacks for the day.

Each shake should contain one whey powder serving, about 20 grams of protein. That is a bunch of protein for any one meal. That is why it is filling and you feel satisfied.

I have already lost several pounds and I have energy. No more diet lethargy.

The Whey Protein Diet Shake

Whey Protein comes in a powder form. It's flavored commonly in vanilla and chocolate. But there are other flavors too. I prefer the vanilla, because well I like vanilla. Plus I like the taste of vanilla mixed with fruit.

You blend the powder in skim milk, soy milk or plain water. That's what makes it a shake.

You can then a fruit if you like. I prefer strawberries and blueberries, but try anything you want.

You can add chocolate or other syrups if you like. These syrups are pretty much just sugar, so I don't recommend it. You have to keep the sugars below 10g. Remember, it's a high protein, low calorie drink.

Some people add ice as well. I personally don't care for ice. Try it and see if it works for you.

Secret of the the Whey Protein Diet

In my opinion, the secret is all the protein. I've heard over and over that 20 grams is the most or maybe slight more that than your body can absorb in one sitting. Don't worry, there is no liver or kidney damage with a few more grams per day. You'd have to really over do it to tax your liver and kidney.

But what you will have is full stomach, and it will take some time to digest. It should be enough time to get to the next meal. You won't be hungry, and your digestive system will not be sending "feed me" messages to your brain. You are not miserable because you are hungry all the time. Plus, your body nevers goes into a starvation mode.
